In Case of Emergency

Emergencycafe

September is Emergency Preparedness Month did you know that? Do you know what you would do if an emergency occurred? An earthquake? A fire? A national disaster forcing you and your family out of your home?
Last fall a family near and dear to many of  our hearts in the independent design world was devastated by the loss of their husband/father when their car was stuck in the snow in Oregon. No one can say whether or not a kit would have saved them or made it easier to get help faster, but the Kim family came to my mind immediately when I questioned whether or not the Sorensen (that's me) family should have one on hand. Especially when we drive 3 hours into the mountains every winter to visit my husbands family. There are miles where no cell phone service is provided and the temperature can drop to 20 below.
While traveling this year make sure you include a kit from Emergency Cafe in your car. We keep our Family of 4 kit in our hall closet that is right near our front door. If we need to leave in a hurry the kit is coming with us.

About Emergency Cafe: Cari Butler is a West side Los Angeles mom whose interest in Emergency Preparedness began when her daughter started pre-school and was required to have a personal emergency kit. That raised the question: "Why shouldn't everyone have an emergency kit?" And why not at an affordable price? Her concern (and her obsession) led her to thoroughly research the subject and then create her own business. She now provides consultation services for families and businesses, as well as offering the Emergency Café line of kits.

Make sure you are ready at home, at the office, and in your car. Be Confident. Be Ready.
