The Sashay

When Saskia Charbonneau came to the US from Holland years ago she brought maternity sashs with her. Afterall they are the rage in Holland and she knew that they worked, that they were stylish, and that she had to have them during her pregnancy. When heads started to turn and she started to get "where do you get that?" every time she wore hers she thought maybe she should start her own business.

This is how it happens right? One woman's great idea turns into a business that she can do and love and run while raising her kids. 2chix Maternity has a new skirt on the scene. It is called the 40 week skirt but I know it will go beyond that as far as wear. We handed this off to our friend Stacy who is happy to test our maternity editorial submissions and I am pretty much certain she hasn't taken it off since I left it at her doorstep a few days ago. In fact I am willing to wager she has even slept in it. She L-O-V-E-S (as she told me that night on the phone) it and you will too.

2chix is "one size fits most" which is my only beef with the brand. I am a 10/12 pre-pregnancy and this skirt didn't look like it would fit me but it fits my skinny and pregnant friend Stacy. 2chix did just start a voluptuous size category for their popular maternity tees so check that out. Maybe skirts are next? Let's hope so as this one is really cool.

I didn't think it was possible to crave becoming pregnant purely based on style. It's superficial I know but I really want to have another baby (for all of the right reasons trust me) but also so I can fill my closet with the coolest maternity wear. It's a job casuality I guess since it's my job to report on the best in baby I can't expect to not become a victim wanting all of these cool products for myself.

Solution to Drab Hospital Gown

It's classic, you just had a baby and everyone wants to take your picture. Not that it isn't enough that you just had a baby and were either cut open or endured squeezing that baby OUT of well you know..., but everyone wants to photograph you at both the best and worst moment of your life. You look like hell, let's just admit it. Sure every mother is beautiful and even more so when you have just given birth and done the ultimate act of love and all of that good stuff, but you look like hell. I looked like it, you looked like it and when we have more babies we are going to look all gray and bloodshot eyed, and tired and there is nothing that we can do about it. Or so we thought!

Next time I have a baby I am going to make sure that I have a supply of dearjohnnies on hand. Well because the Dr's & nurses really need to do their job and have the right access to all of the right places- you know what I'm saying? And my regular pajamas don't come with open backs and that sort of thing.
