Personalitee

Resadesign_letter

It is after all all about the kids. They want everything for themselves so why not indulge?

Resa design has a super cute way of coupling modern fabrics with a vintage twist. Appliquéd lettering, shapes, or numbers on whiter than white tees for your tot are as fresh as their baby bottom. Celebrate a birthday with a numbered tee  or bring out their personality with the first letter of their name on a keepsake shirt. Does your little cutie love turtles or birds? Stars or hearts? They are in luck. Oh luck- maybe they should do a clover?

No matter what Resa dreams up it is sewn with perfection and her custom pieces are the proof. Checkout other items like clothing, burp cloths, changing pads, and great "mom tips" scattered about the site.

Delicious little hippos and owls

Bdelicious

Well I just can't get over the cuteness. Who knew that Ultrasuede could look so good? Now we know where the material went after the clothing trend of Ultrasuede went out years ago (thank goodness). It looks so much better cut up into small pieces and made into hippos and donuts and such!

b.delicious is a great collection of accessories and clothing for small people. With tiny scissors (I imagine) and a nimble artistic hand, Jennifer Talbot creates whimsical beings, and on clothing she applique's unique designs some of which help to bring out the personality in your little "King Pin" or "Chatter Box".

Talbot suggests using these owls as bookends in your child's room which is just genius, and she also has a feeling that hippos are going to be BIG this year. Applique can be seen in many designer's collections but this 3-D use of Ultrasuede is something that only a true artist can achieve.

Kice Kice is Nice Nice

Kicekiceclothing

Twin sisters with a passion for design and for filling the void in modern children's wear put their heads and hands together and came up with Kice Kice. I love it. What a breath of fresh air and a celebration of childhood!

The Spring 2008 line is a collection of hand appliqued tops and bottoms all made of 100% organic cotton. The perfect playwear for your dancing, whirling, fashion concious child. Sizing ranges from 3-6 mos to 6 years (thank goodness!). Washing and drying will result in a slight curling of the hand applique's which is a characteristic of the garments. A clean, modern look to compliment the upcoming Spring season.

Spring Has Sprung

Babybeanspring08_2

Bodenspring08
Well maybe spring hasn't sprung for you but it has for these designers. They are always ahead of the game (because they have to be). I am sure that you are aching for spring though and April showers may bring May flowers- but January freezing cold brings a longing for green grass, buds on trees, and swingy spring dresses for me.

So far my top picks for spring fashion come from BodenUSA and Baby Bean Vintage Daywear. Boden appeals to my dollar conscious, quality seeking self, while Baby Bean appeals to my love of vintage fabrics, impeccable craftswoman-ship, and giving the girls something so very special in the form of a one-of-a-kind dress.

They are yours for the salivating and if you are lucky enough to have sunshine (and warmth) all year 'round where you live, or if you are jetting to the islands for winter break, pack some Boden or some Baby Bean. You are welcome.

As usual the selections for girls are abundant. Leave a note in the comments if you have found great modern picks for baby, toddler boys and young men!

Oh Please Just Have Crayons

Dinendoodle

Do you find yourself thinking first not about what the restaurant that you and your family are about to embark upon serves and if the kids will like it, but if they have crayons to keep them busy? I do.

Sure crayons can only go so far but if you aren't hitting one of the chain family restaurants you may be in trouble from the start. The local golf club or sushi restaurant may not have anything for the kids to do, after all it's not really their responsibility. However you are sick of eating the chicken finger platter and if you see one more vinyl booth or balloon wielding clown it will be too soon.

Dine out wherever you want and rest assured that the kids will keep their cool for at least long enough for you to get their order in quickly- as long as you carry along DINE-n-DOODLE. This neat little roll of crayons is handmade, of superb quality, fits right into your handbag and will provide the saving grace you need. You may even have time to get your drink order in just to take the edge off.

For moms like me who have crayons marking up the lining of their favorite  handbag, this is your answer. 8 crayons are included, holds 16 regular size crayons- so you are 1/2 way there.

Lucid Lightbox

Lightbox

I don't know about your toddler but mine likes the lights on. ALL night.

We tried the "green" approach and told her that it was wasteful and that lights cost money and power yada-yada. However still even when we sneak in after she is fast asleep and turn off the light she either shoots right up in bed and says "want the light on" or as much as 5 hours later in the middle of the night we hear her get out of bed, pad over to her door turn the light on and shut the door (the door thing is a whole other story).

Lucid Lightbox has come to the rescue, and on some nights for Ruby (depending on her mood) her surfer girl light box is all that she needs. The hand-painted canvas tells a whimsical tale and brightens up your child's room with just the perfect amount of night light. I particularly think these are great because when the backlight is on  colors seep out from every inch. While it is off, it is a custom hand-painted canvas.

If I had one I know I would be gazing at it making up a story until I drift off. I am not sure if this is what Ruby does but does anyone really know what goes on inside that head? You should have heard her response the night she couldn't get to sleep and I told her about counting sheep. She said "Mommmm- I want to count GOATS- in SPANISH". Three. It's a magical time.

Knock Knock!

Toocutecottage

We just ordered this little cottage for Ruby for xmas. SHHHH don't tell her. I had to order the dolls too because they match the doll house and remind me of my 2 girls. This is one of the more simple cottages from toocute. They had one (it sold) that had 2 stories and came with 12 pieces of furniture!

I have been really concious this holiday season about buying gifts for Ruby that 1. she will use, and 2. that won't be a threat to her baby sister as a choking hazard. I like how these little dollies are all 1 piece of carved wood. Sweetly painted and perfect for pretending!

Toocutedolls

I already warned the designer that she better get cracking on some more cottages! I know you are going to go nuts for them. They are simple and for the lovely hand painted-ness and attention to detail the price ($40 and up) is just really amazing. I can't wait to see it in person!

Knock Knock. Who's There? Unique!

Doorhanger_2

Just about the most precious thing I have seen all day! This sweet baby boy door hanger sets a calm but hip vibe even before you enter the nursery! I just love it. With 3 of my friends having boys in the next 5 months I am on the prowl for boy stuff. I am boy crazy and I love finding such unique items that I know that I would be one of just a handful of people in the entire world to own it or give it as a gift.

Mamma Made

Mammamade

In LOVE with this jumper. Ruby likes spiders. I mean I don't think she would pick one up and give it a kiss but there is a general fascination with them and she loves reading about them, talking about them, looking at them and now she can wear them!

Fine wale corduroy plays backdrop to embroidered spiders dipping down into the dress. Blue with orange or Pink with cranberry- your choice! Sizes 2T to 8. Mamma Made also has clothing for your little man.
