Spring Has Sprung

 

Well maybe spring hasn't sprung for you but it has for these designers. They are always ahead of the game (because they have to be). I am sure that you are aching for spring though and April showers may bring May flowers- but January freezing cold brings a longing for green grass, buds on trees, and swingy spring dresses for me.

So far my top picks for spring fashion come from BodenUSA and Baby Bean Vintage Daywear. Boden appeals to my dollar conscious, quality seeking self, while Baby Bean appeals to my love of vintage fabrics, impeccable craftswoman-ship, and giving the girls something so very special in the form of a one-of-a-kind dress.

Kea + Joby

When I saw this line I knew I had to try it out. Then I was sure that I would end up reporting on it as it is exactly what I knew it would be. Modern basics done right.

I am a Plain Jane type. I love a print now and then but my wardrobe and that of my girls (and husband) consists of greys, blues, blacks, tan, some pops of color, all solid, tight knits that are otherwise known as "basics". Sure kids need a bit more flair than basic black or grey, so a pop of light pink or orange is appreciated and goes a long way.

Kea + Joby is a line of perfect pieces sized just right, constructed of a great lightweight material that if your toddler had to take them from day to night they could. You laugh but you know your kids have a hectic social calendar and you never know when they need an outfit they can rely on for a few different settings. Kea + Joby is comfy play wear but the fabric and construction easily take it up a notch and can pass for dinner wear, church wear, going to the movies, or a Wiggles show.

The designers behind the line are Vanessa Mathison (fan of her husband Cameron Mathison of daytime television fame? all the more reason to get some of these cool duds), and Nicole Kroll. They just wanted your kids to have comfy, modern, sporty clothes just as theirs do!

This is the way to do the holiday party circuit. Modern but timeless, stylish but eco-friendly.

So this is Fooey. Fooey USA. Great design, fabulous prices and even a secret saver society! My favorite has to be the superstar couduroy pants. I am instantly taken back to the early 80's (in a good way). They create cool fine art for the kids' rooms and they are even going to start a line of hip adult wares called Let's Be Awesome. How rad right?

For infant I am eyeing this summer peasant dress. I can layer under with long sleeve one piece and tights... so tempting!

Mamma Made

In LOVE with this jumper. Ruby likes spiders. I mean I don't think she would pick one up and give it a kiss but there is a general fascination with them and she loves reading about them, talking about them, looking at them and now she can wear them!

Boys vs. Girls

I have 4 friends right now who are pregnant, 3 of them are having boys. The 4th finds out next week (if baby cooperates) whether or not baby #2 is a he or she. That being said boy clothes are on my fashionista brain. Trouble is there  are NO WHERE as many well made, nice, fashionable clothes for boys as there is for girls. This is just fact.

Jack Sprat is a cutie designer line that I just came across. I love this jacket and while I suppose it would work on a girl as well it is uber cute for a Mr. Man.

Now just because I have to look at girls clothing as the mom of 2 cutie girls, my new eye candy is the Sweet Mums Dress by Willarie. I mean I can't even put it into words so I will just stop and let you drool....

Both designers make handmade, hip, quality items which is why they can be found on Etsy. I like to cruise in and out of Etsy on a daily basis and support these designers. You should too next time you are looking for a gift for someone. Etsy goes beyond baby/kids and is overflowing with creativity.
