{Book Club}

Pinklovesbrown

My moms group has a book club. I am trying this whole book club thing for the first time ever. You should have seen the initial book club meeting last week. Everyone showed up with their picks, in hand, printed material from book websites, lists, ready to give full speeches. I was like "um can we read the Unauthorized Biography of Tom Cruise?" That didn't win needless to say but you can bet your bottom I have one on reserve at Barnes & Noble since it comes out tomorrow. Tom- you MUST be sweating big time.

I am excited about most of the years selections, some not so much-especially ones that contain time travel.....

I know that I will probably be passing some of the books along to friends/family after or before I read them so I think I need these sassy bookplates from Pink Loves Brown. Nicole, the paper diva who owns Pink Loves Brown has several other divine designs on her site. Try, just try to not buy anything. I dare you.

Lapine Files Lawsuit Against Jessica Seinfeld

Remember the article we posted a few months back about the similarities between Lapine's "Sneaky Chef" and Seinfeld's "Deceptively Delicious"? Well according to our friends at Yahoo!'s OMG, now Missy Chase Lapine is suing Jessica Seinfeld for plagiarism. What do you think? Leave comments below.

Hey Mr. Willlllllllllllson!

Redwagongifts_2

The Radio Flyer red wagon is about as classic as you get when you think "classic toys". This one is filled with classic children's books. At the Red Wagon Presents website, you pick a red wagon filled with just about anything. The classic book selection in the classic small red wagon is our top pick. The little wagon makes a great addition to the playroom. A perfect size for your little one to pull his/her own books and toys through the house or neighborhood. Admit it: Just the sight of this makes you want to say "Hey Mr. Willllllllllllllson!!!!". However there is nothing menacing about this gift. It contains no batteries and it doesn't talk back.

Say What? Gift Idea #5

Urbandictionary

Thank goodness for Urban Dictionary I mean where would we be if we didn't know what Kadunkadunk meant (do you know what it means?) or half the stuff that comes out of the mouths of today's youth? I remember a year or more ago I wrote an article about Gwen Stefani's LAMB line for kids and I really wanted to know what Holla Back Girl meant. Well one trip to UrbanDictionary.com and I was all set (phew- because it was really bothering me). Want to know what it means? Look it up.

Here is one that will throw ya. I have been calling Ruby "sugar booger" for 3 years. I finally looked googled it just for fun and BAM- was I supposed to know that according to the Urban Dictionary that it meant: The effect of having cocaine on ones nose after snorting the drug? I mean I am a child of the 80's but I was a toddler during the time of disco and fortunately had parents who didn't hang around with anyone needing to use that term. So do I continue to call her "sugar booger"?- probably yes until someone who has knowledge of such disturbing information corrects me. What is even worse is that her REAL nickname that only I call her is "Cha Cha" I did this because when she was little she was so busy and all over the place so it make me think of the dance. NOT what Urban Dictionary says it means. Maybe this is why her father REFUSES to call her that. He is such a smarty pants.

Do you call your kid a cute little name? You better check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Get this book as a great gift for the person who has everything and thinks they know everything.

Update- The Diamond Coated Wheel Gets the Grease?

UPDATE*** It seems we have attracted the attention of the publisher + editor Mary Ellen O'Neill of Harper Collins! Read her comments below and feel free to continue to comment.

May I also ad that as I already stated- my post is not in an effort to sway your book buying decisions. I am bringing up facts, questioning the motives behind publicity in general, and defending independent designers (many who are moms just trying to provide for their families and do what they love) who have their ideas and designs taken for granted and right out from underneath them- daily.

I present to you 2 VERY similar books. Published 6 months apart from each other, Jessica Seinfeld's book coming out most recently.  - click below to keep reading.....

The Belly Book

We received a book for review that I can't actually review YET but had to tell you about it. It's called the Belly Book and I have yet to use it because I am not yet pregnant with our 2nd child. Had I had this book when pregnant with Ruby (now 2) I would have had a lot of fun writing in it and documenting my pregnancy with her, I just know it! I am keeping it tucked away for when I need it but I had to share it with you.

The Belly Book is a ultra hip way to keep track of your pregnancy and it's not intimidating and super time consuming as some other pregnancy journals can be. It's silly and it's easy and it looks cool! Nothing baby gooey, icky about this book, it's crisp and clean and is even curved like a belly!

I love the beginning section during the 1st trimester were you can document your food aversions and whether or not you have morning sickness- the title of the page is "honey can you please hold back my hair?" too funny. too true!

Straight Up & Dirty

As you may already know, we have a book review section on The Daily Stroll. I am always reading more than 1 book at a time so that I can get through my stack and get the word out about new authors, or just new books by loved authors.

Recently I read Straight Up & Dirty which has very little to do with kids, mothering etc. but a lot to do with being a woman. Stephanie Klein is a famous blogger who will now be infamous I am sure with this amazing book which details her struggle to find herself after her marriage ends early and abruptly (the bastard). It's so raw and so true and she really does tell it like it is, Straight Up & Dirty. I will get to reviewing this book in more depth soon on the website but for now I strongly suggest you run out and buy it if you are looking for something to read.
