Organic BabyLegs

Earth_botanicals_model2_p

I am going to be completely honest here. I have yet to write about Babylegs and the company has been in business and wowing the juvenile product industry for quite some time now. I just really didn't like the way they looked and when I can't wrap my head around something or if I don't like it- it doesn't make it on to the virtual pages of the Daily Stroll.

I thought they were kind of "thigh high" looking and too sexy for kids. I thought- what is the big deal- my kid doesn't crawl so I don't need them. My kid doesn't get diaper rash so no point. Then I had another baby.

It is true. Ruby never crawled so giving her a soft knee on the hardwood floors wasn't an issue. She never had diaper rash so letting her bum be diaper free while keeping her legs warm really didn't enter into my mind. When Elkë came along it was another story. She is already a tummy girl at almost 3 months. I think she will be crawling soon and I am not kidding. She has diaper rash quite a bit as I have never seen a baby have more wet diapers in a day (15 or so is that normal??). This is because she actually eats. Ruby? Not so much.

Babylegs are growing on me. I like to let Elkë go diaper less when I can and Babylegs keep her warm. I also have tall children who have what I like to call "short pants syndrome" a lot. Whether it is because they are in a carrier and their pants ride up or because they are just simply growing like a weed- they need something to keep them cozy. I also like to blame their dad who is 6'7" tall.  Another thing that I like about Babylegs is that they help keep tiny shoes on. I sort of slouch the bottom of them down over the baby's shoes and it really helps. Of course my friends and family have made various "Flashdance" comments but hey- I think they are just jealous.

Now with the great organics collection and the unbelievable color and pattern selections Babylegs is really becoming an addiction. I love the reds and pumpkin colors! I think we have over a dozen pairs and the girls share them since they are 1 size fits most. I do have to say that because Ruby is so tall ( 3 years and 40") that it would be great if there was a "tall" size. Do you hear me Babylegs? Ruby loves to wear them but on her they really do look a bit too sexy for a 3 year old since they only go from ankle to mid thigh. Maybe it's just me but  Just a few more inches would be great! I just don't want to hear grumbles on the playground.

Blanquilt

Stellabellaboutique

Some kids like to hold the soft part, some like to feel the silky part in their fingers, my girls like to mush it all up to their face and take in every soft, silky bit. This is why the 'blanquilt' by StellaBellaBoutique is so perfect.

Minky dot chenille, satin, a bunch of cotton fabrics to choose from- the design options are endless. Not to mention personalization! Ours says "the daily stroll" and is perfect for baby "e's" new found belly time. Yours can have your child's name or nickname- just imagine the cuteness. Blanquilts are available in a portable "snugglie" size and go all of the way to "T.V." size.

Grandparents- this is a great holiday gift idea for your little ones. Personalize with "Grandma's House" and keep it for yourself until you are ready to share with the kids! May I suggest T.V. size?

Mamma Made

Mammamade

In LOVE with this jumper. Ruby likes spiders. I mean I don't think she would pick one up and give it a kiss but there is a general fascination with them and she loves reading about them, talking about them, looking at them and now she can wear them!

Fine wale corduroy plays backdrop to embroidered spiders dipping down into the dress. Blue with orange or Pink with cranberry- your choice! Sizes 2T to 8. Mamma Made also has clothing for your little man.

notNeutral

Notneutral

notNeutral is one of my favorite designer brands. Their links coffee mug is what I enjoy my brew out of each day. I only have one and no one else is allowed to use it.

New to the collection is this "seasons area rug" which would work PERFECTLY in our nursery. The colors, the butterflies, oh it is fate. So while I dream away about it I thought I would share. 100% wool hand tufted, made with no illegal labor practices and available in a few different color choices make this rug a highly coveted item and the price is reasonable for the size and quality.

Designer on Designer: BioMe5

First up in our exciting new series "Designer on Designer", Tracy Rains our resident interviewer (and a talented designer) talks to BioME5 an innovative children's fashion lable focused on inspiring the imagination in our kids.

Biome5
BioME5 Designer Interview by Tracy Rains

Daily Stroll: What inspired the BioMe5 line?

BioMe5: Children learn about the world around them from day one through constant exposure to a diversity of images and sounds. Like sponges, they absorb these sounds, shapes, and colors in a continuous process of play and discovery. We hope to create a sense of curiosity with our designs and to further develop familiarity with the shapes of letters, animals, and words. Vibrant colors, large letters, and easily recognizable animals create intriguing graphics but also serve as recognition and learning catalysts for the wearers. The inverse orientation of the words on the shirts is not a mistake; the animal name is clearly readable from the little one's vantage point – a fashionable way to use everyday apparel as a creative learning tool.

"...we learn through constant observation, research and experimentation, however, inspiration and intuition are dominant in our ever evolving process...
'nature is the ultimate teacher'...we rediscover, reconfigure and reinvent what nature has done million times before... "

DS: Who is BioMe5?

Created by two architectural designers (a married couple) in Venice, CA, Becky Nix and Olek Novak-Zemplinski, bioME 5 is an environmentally-friendly and imaginative children's company that produces products which are influenced by the constant visual learning processes inherent in all children, combined with an appreciation for nature's beauty and diversity. The products not only serve functional purposes but also act as an exercise in imagination and learning, all the while remaining respectful of the dynamic planet that stimulates the designs.

DS: How did the name BioME5 come about?

Like the designs, the name bioME 5 was inspired by the earth's various natural biomes (desert, grasslands, aquatics, forests, etc). All animals in the Alphabet Project (such as Sharks, Urchins, Alligators, and Jaguars) inhabit and depend on these environments for their development and survival.

DS: Are your Tee's Organic, Sustainable, or Made in the USA?

Made of 100% fine combed organic cotton, this lightweight fine jersey is exceptionally smooth and tight-knit making it just as opaque as a heavier fabric. The bioME 5 Alphabet shirts are tagless and preshrunk for comfort and wear and pass the strictest quality control procedures.  The tees are made in sweatshop-free facilities in the United States. As an added "bonus", online orders are packaged and shipped in "green film" biodegradable plastic bags, taking as little as 9 months to biodegrade versus up to 400 years for normal plastic bags.

DS: Are your Tee's available in Retail Stores as well as Online?

Yes, the tees can be found in boutiques throughout the US, Canada, and Australia and are being picked up by new stores everyday. Here are a few stores where the tees can be found:

Glitter Box, Mesa, AZ
Twig + Twill, Scottsdale, AZ
Lost and Found, Los Angeles, CA
Yolk, Los Angeles, CA
Hadley, Santa Monica, CA
Pumpkinhead, Brentwood, CA
Le Cirque Des Enfants, Menlo Park , CA
The Red Balloon, Chicago, IL
Active Endeavors, Evanston, IL
Dragonfly Children's Clothing, Lexington, KY
Mary Jane, Newburyport, MA
Aqui, Albuquerque, NM
Natalie & Friends, New York , NY
Sit Still, Portland, OR 97068
Snap Kids, Nashville, TN
Eloise, Charlottesville, VA
Mini Morri, Fremantle, WA, Australia
Clear Innocence, Edmonton, Alberta

DS: What size range do your Tee's come in?

Currently, the tees can be purchased in sizes 2T-6T.

DS: What colors are your Tee's available in?

The Alphabet tees are designed with vivacious and exciting unisex colors to maximize the impact on the pint-size wearers and the individuals they interact with. Each letter has it's own color combination. Check out the "Gallery" on the website: www.bioME5.com http://www.bioME5.com

DS: Any plans to expand the BioME5 line?

Just like the earth's biomes, the bioME 5 line is always growing. There are plans for new projects for the coming year...those will be announced soon. www.biolinia.com http://www.biolinia.com is actually the "mother" company that the founders worked on prior to designing the bioME 5 Alphabet tees. You may be interested in looking at that site as well. You will see that sustainability and constant learning is always a goal of the designers.

DS: What animal starts with the letter X?

A XENOPS! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenops

Thanks so much for your time.  I just love your line.  I'll be ordering some Tee's for my two boys soon!!!

Keywords: Waterproof + Washable

Lillypadcompany

When I hear the 2 words Waterproof + Washable, I know the product will be a hit in my house. When it is on a car seat it is a home run.

In the past we have not had too many "accidents" that involve fluids but occasionally there has been a "mommy I needagopeepee!" which then results in her having already gone "pee pee" while informing me of said "pee pee" on her car seat. I would take this any day over a barf incident but knowing that could still be in my future I am psyched to own a Lilly Pad Car Seat Cover.

The first thought in my mama brain after a fluids incident used to be(before discovering the Lilly Pad) that I need to remove all of the straps and contort myself to wash the fabric and put everything back together. But not anymore! You should have seen me the last time Ruby had an accident when I was about 7 months pregnant with her baby sister. I thought I would go into labor taking that thing apart. No, now we use the Lilly Pad which easily Velcros onto a car seat (works best with Britax Roundabout and Marathon, not so much with arm rest car seat varieties but check the site for deets). When you have to remove the Lilly Pad whether it be for a casual cleaning or a forced event you simply tear it off. No strap removal, no contortion, you don't even have to remove the car seat from the car. Yes I know - amazing. The straps that you need to keep your child safe are not compromised and the car seat cover simply acts as 1. a barrier between the car seat and the pee, barf, crackers, milk, ketchup and french fry grease fingers, and 2. a comfy and stylish layer of fabulousness!

Many colors available. Machine wash. Patent Pending
