Doodlebops Live Worth Every Penny!

Doodlebops1

So we went to the Doodlebops on Saturday. Live and in person the REAL DeeDee Doodle, Rooney Doodle and Moe. Real, live, in person, in all of their cheery glittery splendor. It was fantastic.

Seriously! I was so excited for Ruby (2) and she was super lucky because her Aunt Jenn bought her the ticket for Christmas (thanks aunt jenn). My ticket was only $30 and we were in the 4th row on the floor right under the peformance. It was great. I strongly suggest that if they are peforming in your town and it's in your budget that you take the kids. Beware, they will try and sell you lots of character themed crapola for big bucks but stay strong mama's!

photos curteosy of Aunt Jenn of curtain before show, Rooney, DeeDee and thanks aunt Lee for the photo of Ruby and Mama. Here is a website about the DBops and shows:

no pants no service

So when your toddler turns 2 and a 1/2 and they decide they want to stop wearing pants is this a normal thing? Help me fellow mamas! Ruby has decided she doesn't like pants. She barely likes her diaper. I would take this as a potty training sign but she doesn't go on the potty unless she is at her daycare. She refuses our potty and takes her pants off any chance she gets. She is a total challenge to get dressed in the morning and it's stressing me out.

Any tricks? The only thing that works and keeps her from biting me while I wrestle her is if I sing all of her nursery rhymes wrong. Such as "i know an old lady who swallowed a zebra" she just looks at me confused and I swipe the shirt over her head. This isn't going to get me very far once she figures me out I fear.

If it were summer I would not care if she wanted to be naked 100% of the time, but it's November, we live in NY and she must leave the house fully clothed.

Silly kid.

The Dentist

Ok I am just going to be straight with you- it had been a while since I went to the dentist. I had a lot of stuff going on and I have never had a cavity so I figured what could go wrong if I did not go for 3 years or so. I floss, I brush 3 times a day, like I said, no cavities.

I finally sucked it up and went. I hadn't gone because we did not have dental insurance, and then I was busy getting married, and then I got pregnant right away and I thought you couldn't go to the dentist when you were pregnant and so finally I had to call to see when Ruby (age 2.5) was supposed to have her first appointment and I was snagged. They said "well she doesn't need to come until she is 3, but we haven't seen you in a while!". SNAG. STUCK. So today I had 11am dentist appointment. Still no cavities but I did not recall the dentist office being so torturous.

It was awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was really pissed every time the hygienist assaulted me with the little silver scraper thingy and super duper pissed when she kept jabbing me. I mean does she not know that is going to hurt? Then she kept sighing and at one point I swear she clicked her tongue in sort of a "tsk tsk" way. WTF? I just had a very long week of PMS on top of a full bowl of Halloween candy sitting on my kitchen counter, a client sent me a cheesecake as a thank you, and I am a coffee addict, of course I am going to have some plaque. While she was making me miserable I was having flashbacks to Little Shop of Horrors and THE DENTIST scenes.

Anyway, not looking forward to May 17 which is when they made me promise to come back. I got a free toothbrush and some nice floss. My new toothbrush is purple though which is my least favorite color. I think I would rather go to the OBGYN than go to the Dentist. The thing is the Dentist gets a bad rap when really it's the hygienist causing all of the pain. I love my Dentist, he just comes in and hums and pokes my teeth. I know she is doing her job but next time I will be sure to have a shot of whiskey beforehand.

WHAT IS A DADGEAR BAG?

Worth $92 this bag will have the Dad in your life looking HOT.

Backpack - Retro Stripe - Red

Designed in the spirit of hiking packs from our native Colorado, this rugged backpack maintains our standard of excellence for our Dad diaper bags and no one will be able to tell that it is one. We hired one of the nation's premier expedition backpack designers in Boulder, Colorado to assist us in creating an unmatched backpack. By working together, we were able to combine the ultimate in looks and functionality and incorporate features similar to the rest our product line.

Features include:

• Our quick-access wipes window bottom of the front of the pack that integrates with our refillable wipes container (starting September 2006) and also accommodates most brands of wipes
• Two large pockets with numerous sections and organization mesh that makes it easy to find your essentials
• Two bottle pockets accessible from the exterior large enough to hold up to 4 bottles on each side or even a large container for Dad to keep hydrated
• Our slim design changing pad (included)
• At the top of the pack, we have a revolutionary feature we call the "diaper hammock." This pocket keeps diapers from getting lost in the bottom of the pack and allows for easy access when changing your child.
• In addition, we designed the largest pocket in this pack like luggage. It has a clamshell opening, so accessing items at the bottom of a full bag is easy. As a result, you won't disrupt your organized packing job.
• If these features weren't enough to persuade you, we designed this pack to fit a man's frame with an 18" tall back panel. It is one of very few, if not the only, diaper backpacks sized specifically for dad
• Additionally, we ensure our quality standards are met by using high quality, large zippers with dual pulls on nearly every pocket, heavy-duty fabrics, and durable hardware
• This backpack is available in several colors and styles

Mommy Chic

There is a certain style that I have fallen into in the last 2 years that I like to refer to as 'mommy chic'. Translation: SWEATPANTS

My husband doesn't like this. I don't really care what he thinks but I really do. I also care what the other moms at Kindercare think when I pick up, drop off Ruby. I would love to be asked on playdates, not asked to go wash my hair and put on a pair of pants with an actual waist band, or god forbid a pair of pantyhose. I really detest those 2 things. I feel like if I can dress in sort of an urban, out of doors, on the go mommy type who is dashing from climbing a mountain to Kindercare to pick up her tired 2 year old that I can pull off this look. We will see. I always have trouble pulling off the tomboy look though, could be my double D's, they scream woman for some reason. Ahh to find the mix between ladylike and comfort.

A catalog started coming in the mail that I really like. I have yet to muster up the courage to order anything because it's kinda pricey ($75 for a pair of pants?), but I guess I should order and if I don't like it I can just return right? The company is called Title Nine. The catalog is way cooler looking than their website but you can shop from either. I am looking forward to trying a few things such as wrinkle, stain and baby urp resistant pants and nice fleecy shirts that are comfy like sweat shirts but aren't sweat shirts, you know? shop www.titlenine.com

Made In NY

Sweetbabylane I didn't think it was possible to crave becoming pregnant purely based on style. It's superficial I know but I really want to have another baby (for all of the right reasons trust me) but also so I can fill my closet with the coolest maternity wear. It's a job casuality I guess since it's my job to report on the best in baby I can't expect to not become a victim wanting all of these cool products for myself.

My newest obsession is with a tissue thin, nice and long hoodie from Sweet Baby Lane. The best thing about it is the tattoo-like screen print on the arm that says "made in NEW YORK with love!". See more at www.SweetBabyLane.com

Teacher's Pet

Teachers work so hard and I think some of the hardest working ones are the daring souls who take care of our preschool age children! I am thinking of getting a small gift for Ruby's teacher for the holidays. She deserves it. I mean I can't even imagine how she gets coats on 10 two year olds, or picks up breakfast and lunch and snacks after 10 kids and always manages to give Ruby a memorable, fun day and send her home to me not smelling like cafeteria soup. Astonishing.

I found the perfect little item for Miss C. at Alli's Originals. I think these silver necklaces are perfect for anyone and the apple is my new favorite. I love the little charms, you can add as many as you like, wear one alone, it's up to you and your mood that day when you peer into your jewelry box. For moms on the go like me you don't even have to take them off you can wash and wear all day long, sleep in them without them being too chunky and most importantly have a personalized charm close to your heart.

My pick for best teacher gift is the Teachers Love Necklace. Get it at www.allisoriginals.com
